Health Insurance Options for Maine

A recent study prepared for the Maine Bureau of Insurance states that “introducing a high risk pool in Maine’s individual market would reduce premiums considerably for a majority of subscribers”. Maybe this the first step to underwritten individual health insurance plans in Maine…it’s been a while. I will keep you up to date with the reaction to this study in my blog.

In the meantime, your best bet is to visit Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine for individually issued health insurance plans.

I do not make a market for health insurance in Maine so, unfortunately, you are on your own. The “high risk pool” concept used in other states may be the answer to adding a younger demographic to the Maine health plan insured population. When that happens I will be back in Maine…along with a number of carriers who left when the health insurance plan market dissolved a few years ago!
