Health Insurance Options for Vermont

In Vermont, we are all hoping that Catamount will be the answer to enrolling our uninsured population. If you make less than $2,553 a month you will not find a better option for individually issued health insurance anywhere. I would definitely check it out at Vermont's Catamount Health Plans site.

For many who do not qualify for assistance through the subsidy, there are two ways to go; group coverage or individual coverage.

Group Coverage

If you are self employed or own a small business, you definitely want to purchase a group health plan. Here are three options:

VACE/CIGNA Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont MVP Healthcare
CIGNA OAP Plans Vermont Health Services Group Brochure MVP HMO 25+
CIGNA 2250 (HSA) Vermont Health Services Group Rates MVP HMO 25
CIGNA 3000 Blue Cross and Blue Shield Community Rates MVP HMO 25-232
CIGNA 3500 (HSA)   MVP HMO 25C
CIGNA Rates   MVP Rates

Individual Coverage

If you are an individual, I suggest that you consider the MVP Indemnity Plan.  It is very useful for people who find themselves confronted with a large COBRA premium. And because the rate is age sensitive, it is a popular plan for college students as well.
